Hamzeh Zahran is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on photography, based in San Francisco, California. Born and raised in Amman, Jordan, he began his creative journey as a skateboard photographer, documenting the vibrant skateboarding community in his hometown.
In 2009, Zahran moved to the United States, earning a degree from Suffolk University in Boston in 2015. Since then, he has traveled extensively, spending much of his time between San Francisco and New York, refining his craft and developing both personal and professional projects.
Zahran’s work moves between documentary and surrealism, blending reality with imagination to explore themes of identity, memory, and the unknown. His images often mix real-world scenes with a sense of mystery and discovery. His projects include Be my Lil Baby!, a personal reflection on existence and identity that also takes shape as a book. His ongoing project, In Search of Thule, follows a similar approach, using landscapes, objects, and abstraction to create a dreamlike experience about connection and place.
His work has been featured in publications such as Beyond Kings, Go, Leica Camera Blog, Tagsters, Venture (Suffolk University), and Vita.it. His clients include Philadelphia Skateboards, and the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS). A portfolio of client work is available upon request.
Beyond his artistic practice, Zahran is committed to volunteerism, collaborating with organizations such as ACTED, The Bedouins Skateboard Artivism, and ICNA Relief.
In addition to his independent work, Zahran has held roles at institutions including Magnum Photos (as an intern) and the International Center for Photography. He has also contributed to major companies like Airbnb, AMD, and Google, where he currently works as a Digital Archivist (DAM).
